CrossFit Ripon members are preparing for a demanding 48-hour challenge to raise money for a children’s hospice.
Participants will run four miles every four hours, completing a total of 12 runs and 48 miles, or 77 kilometres, which is just under two marathons.
The challenge, which begins at noon on Friday, June 26, will be held in aid of Wetherby-based Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Members push themselves physically each year to raise money for Martin House.
Gym owner Mick Meegan said:
This year we’re swapping barbells for road miles, taking on the physical and mental challenge of running through the day and night.
We’re raising funds for Martin House, which provides palliative care and support for children and young people with life limiting conditions, along with their families, across west, north and east Yorkshire. Their work makes an incredible difference to so many local families.
