DIY enthusiasts in Harrogate have another stop on their shopping itinerary, following the opening this morning of a new branch of Wickes.
The store, on Ripon Road, was ceremonially opened by the mayor of Harrogate Cllr Viv Poskitt, who met employees and toured the premises.
The store, which is powered by 100 solar panels on the roof, covers 10,800 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 3,200 square foot mezzanine level with kitchen and bathroom showroom.
It also sells building materials and a wide range of home and garden improvement products.
It will be open seven days a week: from 7am till 8pm on weekdays, from 7am till 7pm on Saturdays, and from 10am till 4pm on Sundays.
Kate Thompson, head of property at Wickes, said:
Our new small-format store has been designed to make the most of the space, with a dedicated kitchen and bathroom showroom to help customers find inspiration and plan their projects with confidence.
We're also pleased to welcome 21 colleagues to the team and look forward to supporting local homeowners and trade professionals with their home improvement projects.
The new store is based on the site of the former Magnet kitchen showroom, which has relocated to Albert Street in Harrogate.
There are more than 230 Wickes stores around the UK.
