Jeneba Kanneh-Mason headlines Ripon classical music season

Pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason headlines the star names coming to Ripon for a forthcoming classical music series.

Ripon Concerts, which organises monthly Sunday afternoon concerts at 3pm at Holy Trinity Church, unveiled its 2026/27 programme at a garden party at Prospect House, Burton Leonard.

Ms Kanneh-Mason is one of seven siblings who are all accomplished classical musicians.

She will play works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Price and Chopin on February 14.

In another highlight, viola player Jaren Ziegler, who won the BBC Young Musician competition and Lithuanian-born pianist Kasparas Mikužis will perform in a concert that brings together two of the most exciting young musicians.

The season opens on October 11 with Connaught Brass, followed by pianist Reina Okada, who will give a recital that includes Beethoven's Pathétique Sonata.

Female vocal ensemble Corvus Consort, with harpist Louise Thomson, bring Christmas music to Ripon with Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, ahead of the New Year return of the Treske ensemble, whose programme features Schubert's String Quintet in C major.

"We are excited and proud of our innovative 2026/27 season, which showcases some of the brightest classical stars in the UK.”

Free tickets will again be available to local under-18s accompanied by an adult.
