Harrogate’s Valley Gardens cordoned off after blood discovered
Police sealed off a section of Harrogate’s Valley Gardens yesterday (September 20) after blood was discovered.
North Yorkshire Police was alerted to the gruesome discovery at 8.24am.
Crime scene investigators were called to the scene and firefighters eventually washed away the blood.
The incident led to a last-minute chage of route for Harrogate junior parkrun, a weekly event in which children aged four to 14 run two kilometres around Valley Gardens.
The Stray Ferret contacted the force for more information yesterday. Today it provided the following statement and appealed for anyone with further information to get in touch.
It said:
The police activity related to a report at 8.24am on Sunday (20 Sept) of blood being found on the ground towards the bottom of Valley Gardens, between the ice cream café and the entrance to the gardens.
The area was cordoned off until midday while enquiries were carried out, including CSI taking a sample for testing. Checks were also made with the ambulance service, hospitals, and medical centres.
The fire service attended to wash away the blood.
So far, nothing suspicious has been uncovered.
It may have been someone with a nosebleed or some kind of cut injury.
