A Harrogate gym owner has withdrawn plans to convert a garage into a personal training studio.
Jonathan Walker, who runs HGPT on Station Parade, applied to North Yorkshire Council in May for permission to change the use of Stephen King Auto Services on Regent Parade.
The garage, which offers vehicle servicing, repairs and MOTs, has been listed for sale on Rightmove for £375,000.
A planning statement submitted on behalf of Mr Walker said the proposed gym would operate with “a small number of private memberships”.
The studio would offer one-to-one personal training sessions and group classes between 7am and 9pm.

The application included plans for a new entrance, internal alterations to create changing rooms and the installation of a “small mezzanine”.
However, the application was marked as withdrawn on North Yorkshire Council’s planning website this week.
No reason was given for the withdrawal, and it remains possible that revised plans could be submitted in future.
During the planning process, the council’s scientific officer, Mark Lee, said “further intrusive investigation and assessment is required in relation to ground gas identified on site”.
It is not clear whether the ground gas issue was a factor in the withdrawal.
Mr Walker previously founded and owned Gambaru Fitness, which opened on Station Parade in 2008 before entering voluntary liquidation in 2020.
HGPT currently operates from the same Station Parade premises.
