Now that Halloween is over, its’s time to start focusing on Christmas – and what better way to get into the spirit than a festive light trail.

Swinton Park Hotel opened its mile-long illuminated trail Luminescence on Saturday (October 31), and we can confirm after visiting that it’s spectacular.

The 17-acre wooded lakeside gardens are decked out in creative displays, including ones with 100 lit-up birdcages, an Oscars-themed red carpet walk and hanging moons that are remarkably realistic.

To add to the special occasion, there's a grotto which offers hot drinks, seasonal snacks, sparklers and even a marshmallow roasting kit for use at the nearby fire pit.

Perfect for everything from a romantic stroll to an evening out with the kids, interactive elements make it fun for all the family.

The experience can be further enhanced with some more time spent on the grand estate, by enjoying dining before or after your walk in one of its three restaurants.

The event runs until February 21, so if you’ve got a busy few months in the run up to Christmas, you’ve got plenty of time to enjoy the experience in the new year.
