Fountains Abbey near Ripon, is to host a charity 5K Go Bright Fun Run in partnership with Mind in Harrogate District.
The fundraiser will take place on Sunday July, 19, and anyone and everyone is invited no matter their age or running ability.
The five kilometre route will take the participants through the ruins of the 12th-century Abbey and the Georgian era, Studley Royal Water Garden.
All proceeds will go towards Mind in Harrogate, helping to support services for local children and young people’s mental health.
The independent local charity has been running since 1973 and is affiliated with National Mind and the Mind Federation.
From its central hub on Station Parade, it offers counselling, one-to-one therapy, group wellbeing sessions usually related to arts, crafts and music along with a weekday phone line for anyone who needs to talk.
Tina Chamberlain, CEO at Mind in Harrogate District, said:
Go Bright is about bringing people together in a beautiful setting to do something positive for themselves and for local young people.
Every person who signs up helps us continue supporting children and young people across our district with their mental health - and we’re proud to be working in partnership with the National Trust to make this special event possible at Fountains Abbey.
This event is part of the National Trust’s Summer of Play, which is a nationwide initiative attempting to get families to spend more time outdoors.
Justin Scully is the General Manager at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal and said:
We’re delighted to support Mind in Harrogate District’s Go Bright Fun Run as part of our Summer of Play programme at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to get active together outdoors, while helping raise funds for children and young people’s mental health support locally.
Participants are encouraged to wear bright colours and take part at their own pace, whether running, walking or enjoying the event with family and friends.
Funds raised will help ensure more children and young people across the Harrogate district can access support earlier and feel less alone when they need help most.
Tickets for the event can now be booked online on the National Trust website or the Mind in Harrogate page.
Tickets are £15 for an adult, £12 for any child under 15 and under 5s go free and the event will start at 9am on Sunday July 19.
