Extra early bin collections to resume in Harrogate district

Waste collections will start at 5.30am tomorrow (July 9) and Friday in the Harrogate district due to the hot weather.
The Met Office is forecasting temperatures will reach 30 degrees in the district on Friday before falling over the weekend.
North Yorkshire Council said in a statement waste collection crews will start 30 minutes earlier than usual in the Harrogate and Skipton areas.
It said:
We are again making the decision to start earlier due to the expectation of high temperatures during the daytime.
The officers in our collection teams can walk up to 30,000 steps a day, and with the current heat, we have decided to make this change to help reduce their time out during daytime hot weather.
Please ensure your bin is presented earlier on your collection date. In the event of a delay to collections, please leave your bin presented, and we will return as soon as possible.
