A planned affordable housing scheme in Harrogate has been reopened to public consultation after the developer amended its plans in light of consultees' feedback.
Avant Homes intends to build 59 new houses in the hamlet of Knox, on a 5.6-acre site next to Knox Sawmills.
The company submitted its planning application in January 2026, but has since made several changes to address concerns raised by North Yorkshire Council's landscape, housing and urban design officers, as well as by the NYC highways team.

The proposed site layout of the Avant Homes scheme.
The main aspects of the scheme remain the same – it still consists of 12 one-bedroom homes, 18 two-bedroom homes, 25 three-bedroom homes and four four-bedroom homes.
The changes range from revising the layout of the plots to the replacement of a knee-high rail with a low-level hedge.
Avant's scheme has met with some controversy – of the 13 public comments submitted to North Yorkshire Council about it, 11 have been objections. Concerns include worries that local road, sewerage, schooling and healthcare provision will come under increased pressure, and that the location in quiet, semi-rural area is not suitable for new development.
But such concerns in Knox have been overruled in the past, as when Teesside developer Jomast received permission last year to build 53 homes just the other side of Knox Lane.
Should the Avant scheme go ahead, Avant intends to transfer it to not-for-profit housing association Yorkshire Housing as 100% affordable accommodation.
The reconsultation period for the scheme is due to end in two-and-a-half weeks' time, with a deadline for comments of Monday, November 2.
